Nicaragua: Nicaragua ICS Logistics Officer

Based in Managua, Nicaragua, with regular travel throughout the country
Fixed term contract, ending on 30 April 2017, full-time (40 hours per week)
USD$1,300 gross per month

For this post, we are only able to consider candidates who are nationals or those with permanent residence in Nicaragua.

Progressio is looking for a resourceful, hands-on and people-orientated individual, with an excellent knowledge of Nicaragua, who is looking for a challenging new role.

The post holder will be responsible for logistical arrangements and act as the link between the UK International Citizen Service (ICS) volunteers (from when they arrive in Nicaragua), the national ICS volunteers, Progressio and the local organisations hosting the volunteers. S/he will also ensure that UK and national volunteers receive the support needed in order to successfully make a positive contribution to their 12-week placements in Nicaragua.

This post requires a confident, outgoing and organised professional, with excellent attention to detail, strong initiative, and who can manage a demanding workload and communicate well with a wide range of people.

The successful candidate should have a degree or equivalent experience.

You should have demonstrable experience in logistics, or in a similar role, meeting a wide range of requests; in the procurement of services; of working with budgets and tracking expenditure and expenditure reports; of managing and prioritising a heavy workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines; of proactively identifying and addressing issues, and of working with people of other cultures, backgrounds and ages, including young adults.

An in-depth knowledge and understanding of Nicaraguan culture, society and the political context; excellent attention to detail, accuracy and proven analytical and problem solving skills; the ability to organise own workload and work with minimum supervision; to approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude, and demonstrable interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the ability to build effective and professional relationships with individuals/groups from different cultural backgrounds and ages are essential.

You should also have the ability to adapt within the working environment, including travelling extensively, sometimes at short notice; fluency in Spanish and a good command of written and spoken English; good computer and numeracy skills; full employment rights in Nicaragua; sensitivity to culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age; a driving licence and the willingness to work outside office hours and during weekends.
